Fullerton, Calif. – Today, End Citizens United announced it’s endorsement of Gil Cisneros’s campaign for re-election. The group is dedicated to reforming our campaign finance system and ending the rigged system in Washington where elected officials do the bidding of their corporate donors at the expense of the American people.
“Rep. Cisneros is already changing the way Washington works. He’s committed to unrigging the political system and making government responsive to Californians — not corporate donors with big checks,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “Even though he’s only been in office for a few months, he’s already delivering on promises by passing the most comprehensive anti-corruption and reform legislation in a generation. Cisneros’ commitment to reform and families in the district will make him a top target of mega-donors and special interests hell-bent on protecting the status quo in Washington, but we have his back. ECU is proud to endorse Rep. Cisneros and we’re committed to ensuring he’s re-elected.”
While accepting the endorsement, Cisneros highlighted the House’s passage of the For the People Act, the most sweeping campaign finance and election infrastructure overhaul ever proposed, as proof that the new crop of Freshman Democratic lawmakers is helping to drive positive change on issues like money in politics.
“I’m proud to have the endorsement of End Citizens United and to have supported the For the People agenda to strengthen our election systems, reform campaign finance laws, and put an end to dark money in government,” said Gil Cisneros. “There is still work to be done to bring greater transparency to politics and get our government working for regular people and not billionaires and big corporations. I’ll continue to reject corporate campaign contributions because I want to only be accountable to the families and people of the 39th District.”
The endorsement from End Citizens United joins a strong list of early endorsements for Rep. Cisneros’s re-election campaign, including NARAL Pro-Choice America.
